PlayMining, Issuer of DEAPcoin (DEP), Launches “Project B-idol,” a Digital Idol Project Encouraging Secondary Creation

As a first step in actively supporting derivative works, karaoke sound files and dance motion data will be released for free.

As part of its global GameFi platform business, Digital Entertainment Asset Pte. Ltd.(DEA), a Singapore-based global GameFi company and owner of the PlayMining gaming platform, has announced the launch of the “Project B-idol” digital idol project aimed at actively promoting the secondary creation of proprietary characters and settings. The first initiative under this project is the “Sing and Play” project.

As a first step, the company will release karaoke sound files and dance motion data that can be freely utilized in creating “I tried singing” and “I tried dancing” videos. Going forward, the company plans to continuously provide supportive data to facilitate secondary creations by fans.

■The Vision of “Project B-idol” through the Promotion of Secondary Creation

Thanks to technological innovation, we have entered an era where anyone can create value as a creator. However, creations using others’ intellectual property (IP) or derivative works have always faced issues with legality such as copyright infringement.

On the other hand, the concepts and technologies of Web 3.0 have made it possible to receive compensation for the increased value of content without having to restrict fan-made content for copyright infringement as has been done in the past. Project B-idol aims to enhance the value of IPs by actively opening up and promoting secondary creation together with passionate creators who are fans.

In the future, the project plans to establish a system where creators can receive direct rewards from fans, thereby further enhancing the value of their IPs by “reinvesting” the value created within the IP.
