The launch of the power industry’s first participatory content for contributing to society, “PicTrée,” and commencement of a demonstration test in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture
~ A demonstration test started in April as part of Maebashi City’s urban appeal improvement and co-creation project ~
Digital Entertainment Asset Pte., Ltd. (Head Office: Singapore; Founder & CEO: Naohito Yoshida, Founder & Co-CEO: Kozo Yamada, hereinafter referred to as, “DEA”), TEPCO Power Grid Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshinori Kaneko, hereinafter referred to as, “TEPCO PG”), and Greenway Grid Global Pte., Ltd. (Head Office: Singapore; President and CEO: Kazuhiko Shiba, hereinafter referred to as, “GGG”) are working to solve the problems faced by infrastructure companies using gamification with the aim of creating a sustainable society.
The three companies will participate in a project to promote urban appeal and co-creation to solve social problems faced by Maebashi City and create new value. On Saturday, April 13, they will launch participatory content for social contribution called “PicTrée – Grid Grab: Capture the Current- (hereinafter referred to as, ” PicTrée “)” that leverages Power Assets, * 1 thereby commencing the power industry’s first demonstration test of participatory content for contributing to society.
” PicTrée ” is a free mobile game app where players take photos of electric power assets, such as utility poles and manholes, and connect the assets (pictures) together to compete to see who can cover the furthest distance and take the most photos.
Through the game, players contribute to society by aiding the maintenance of infrastructure in their neighborhood thereby helping to detect equipment abnormalities early.
Players can also earn rewards * 2 based on their performance in the game.
Through the demonstration test in Maebashi City, we will examine the utility of the acquired photos of infrastructure facilities and how to leverage them for inspections such as maintenance and safety. We will also further study how to improve the quality of this content and how to diversify and expand this service.
*(i) Power Assets: General term for facilities owned by TEPCO PG, such as utility poles and steel towers
*(ii) Amazon gift certificates and crypto assets such as DEAPcoin (DEP)

Our company is taking on new business challenges under the motto of, “NEW. ” In this context, we will take on challenges in the Web3.0 sector and utilize it to solve diverse issues for all infrastructure companies, including TEPCO Power Grid. Furthermore, we want to be a game changer for sustainable urban development and vitalize the region.
We will work together with the local community to find sustainable solutions using a completely new methodology called Web3.0× Gamification. Please continue to follow us for good things to come!

It has been about six months since the plan was announced last summer. I was deeply moved by the release of the app after daily deliberations and heated discussions with TEPCO PG and GGG.
Thanks to the strong support and official cooperation of Maebashi City, we are now able to start the demonstration test.
This is the first step toward realizing our dream of a world in which “playing games pays and improves society,” which we have had since our founding in 2018.
As this is a demonstration test, the game is only available in Maebashi City, but we hope that not only local residents, but also people from all over Japan, will participate in our effort to change the world and earn rewards.
■ Overview of PicTrée – Grid Grab: Capture the Current
” PicTrée ” is a “team battle game” where teams take photos of power assets, such as utility poles and manholes, and compete to see which team can take the most photos and cover the most distance.
Players choose which team they want to belong to, “Amp,” “Bolt,” or “Watt,” and play as a member of that team. In the game, players can earn points by “Checking In” on and “Capture” the power assets, such as utility poles, and then “Connect” the assets. The total score of each team determines the ranking of the three teams.
Players can earn rewards based on their performance in the game, such as Amazon gift certificates and DEAPcoin (DEP), as well as the chance to earn team rewards based on team rankings at the end of fixed period of time referred to as a “season.”
